Topics 4 and 5: Category changes and trade deadline

In an effort to speed this up, I am combining these two since only one requires a vote.

If you have any suggestions for category changes, please post them in the comments section, and we will get to them. I'm not really sure of any, but this was suggested to me as a winter meeting topic, so here it is.

The true vote for today after the jump.

Today's big topic is whether to move the trade deadline up. Right now, it is Week 18 (of 22).

Under the new proposal, we could move the deadline up two weeks to around Week 16, or possibly even further. For now, it will just be a yes/no vote, and if yes wins, we will find out about the options and decide in the future.

Pros: To prevent unbalanced, now-for-the-future trades from happening. It'd allow more teams to be in contention at the trade deadline.
Cons? It's part of the game. Fewer trades would be made. There'd be less panic from teams clawing for a playoff spot to make a deal.

Change needed: Simple majority

Again, comments on both topics are welcome.

Should we make the trade deadline earlier in the year?
Yes
No

  1. I like this idea, there were a lot of arguments around last years deadline cause of trades looking into the future. I was one of those trades and i understand both sides of the argument. I am in favor of moving it up, as for more teams will still have a shot at playoffs at that point, and it may prevent these trades from happening...No category changes in mind here.
