Assessing the draft: Rebuilding Year Ova!
(Editor's note: This is the latest in a series of posts briefly breaking down each team's draft. It will culminate in the debut of the 2010 Power Rankings at the end.)
If there's one thing we can count on with Shea, it's a terrible team name. He managed to outdo himself once again on the uncreative scale. Shea is looking to finally break through in this league, after some really down years. Ah, the life of a Cubs fan.
Focus: Hitting. Unquestionably hitting. A nice mix of power and speed, with a lot of depth as well. No question Shea was thinking about the bats. Maybe he just found out that chicks dig the long ball?
Storyline: After weeks of speculation, Shea went with Miguel Cabrera as the No. 1 overall pick. A safe pick but time will only tell whether it was the right one. Remember, two years ago, Shea took a similarly named player with the No. 1 overall pick. That was a disaster.
Headscratcher: Taking Brandon Webb, who is almost certain to start the season on the DL, is fine, but then he went and drafted Jarrod Washburn, a man without a team who will dangle at the end of the roster.
