Jose Valverde and Francisco Rodriguez both imploded Sunday, costing Joe at least a tie and definitely costing Ricky a win.
After Valverde's blown save, loss and WHIP jump, Jack benched Aaron Cook, who threw a gem. If Valverde got the save and Jack played Cook, who knows what would have happened - it looks like a tie. But, instead, Jack comes from behind to snatch a 9-8 win in a possible championship preview. Our fans should be excited for that possibility with the back-and-forth entertaining matchup these two put on this week.
It almost certainly means Jack will be No. 1 in this week's power rankings as well.
More after the jump.
As for Ricky, wow! Just wow! Rodriguez puts four batters on base and walks Mariano Rivera with the bases loaded in the ninth inning, costing him the WHIP category by 0.01 and a win. Mike couldn't even believe it, doing a double-take when he heard he had the 10-9 victory.
"Whoa, are you serious? Wow," was all he could muster, clearly stunned.
Absolutely shocking stuff today, and a HUGE loss for Ricky. It really opens things up for Bob, Mike and Adam (all 6-6) to get back in the playoff picture. Ricky is now 6-5-1.

Thank you krod?? Mixed feelings, that was fucking gross.
ReplyDeleteLOL, too funny, K-Fraud strikes again, to be fair though, Mo Rivera at the plate is pretty menacing
ReplyDeleteHAAAAA "k-fraud", can't wait for your nickname for Brad Lidge.
ReplyDeleteWorld Fucking Champ? That has a nice ring to it.
ReplyDeleteAnd last year K-rod was the save king, last years stats won't translate to wins this year baby.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe you scum Met fan(s?) are still trash talking. Get into second place first, then you can try to start it back up again.
ReplyDeleteInjuries to Beltran, Reyes, Delgado, Putz obviously won't translate to wins either, nor will putting out a AA lineup every game, let's go Los Buffalo Bison!
ReplyDeleteHaha its not trash talking. It's just funny when a phillies fan makes fun of our closer this year, when yours is brad lidge. 4 games out with our "AA lineup", that just shows how trashy phils actually are. Yes i know Mets are garbage...for now.
ReplyDeleteSo, um, did KRod celebrate the final out of a World Series with the Mets? I mean he acts like it after saving a 3-run lead vs. the Nats, but seriously? Until he wins the Mess a championship, you can't talk. Bitch.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you act like we aren't playing hurt... Ibanez, Lidge, Eyre, Myers, Romero, Bastardo, Hamels, Condrey.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention our All-Star SS is mentally hurt.
The only one of those injuries i'll allow you to use is Ibanez. Lidge doesnt count, cause hes that bad. And I can't wait for your excuses of ACE Hamels being 4-5, yeah hahah hes 4-5, cause of an injury hes pitching with.
ReplyDeleteAnd I keep reading over your list of injuries and am laughing uncontrolably...
ReplyDeleteYeah cause three of our top five bullpen guys being on the DL at the same time doesn't count or anything... Dope
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should think back to last year to get a sense of how important a bullpen is to a team. You remember that made the difference in the NL East champions and the chokers, right?
ReplyDeleteCole Hamels and Brad Lidge are obviously not at 100%, look at their numbers compared to last year and even an idiot could tell that. Hamels absolutely dominated every team he faced in the playoffs and in September and there is no denying that because he has a ring to prove it. As for Lidge, he dominated hitters throughout all of last season. They both were overworked last year and if that's the cost for winning a World Series, I would do it every time, but I guess you modern Mets fans wouldn't know what that's like.
ReplyDeleteYour SP's and hitting this year are just as big of problems.
ReplyDeleteAnd to bob, if ACE is hurt put him on the DL, otherwise no excuses. We all heard the "johan knee injury" rumors since 3 weeks ago, or krod fell and hurt his back. But no excuses here, we still suck...only for now tho.
LOL, well you only have 2 months left to get a big lead because we all know what's gonna happen come September
