Hitting
Adam was top three in all the major hitting categories during the regular season, while Chris struggled to find consistency. However, Adam's dealing with some key injuries right now. Dustin Pedroia is out, and he can't cut him. Nick Swisher is injured, and most of all, Josh Hamilton's ribs are badly bruised, and he might not play at all this week.
Advantage: Adam
Pitching
As good as Adam's hitting has been, his pitching has not. Chris's, however, has the potential to put up some very good numbers. One thing to watch, as we've seen before, is whether Adam plays or benches starters based on "feelings." He's been known to do this, especially when his guys are playing the Phillies.Chris has three two-start pitchers, Adam has two.
Advantage: Chris
Managing
In a week where he was striving for a division title, Adam made crucial mistakes, such as keeping players who weren't playing in the lineup and not stiffing for Sunday. Chris, on the other hand, already was preparing for this matchup, snagging Jordan Zimmermann and his two starts.
Advantage: Chris
Prediction
Chris will take most of the pitching categories and do just enough offensively to notch the first-round upset, 11-9.
