Note: This week's Power Rankings were done, without prompting, by Chris. Heck, saves me the time during a busy day so I said sure, why not! So without further ado...
Here are this week's KLS5 Power Rankings. As always, this is a subjective process, and there isn't any specific formula used to determine the rankings.
All complaints should be sent to CHRIS. Team record in parenthesis, and previous week's ranking follows the slash.
1. Bernie Madoff (9-4-1) / 2 - A 16-1 lead Saturday results in a 10-8 win on Sunday, but hey a win's a win as Mike brings the Twins back to reality that they just aren't that good a team.
2. Smutt Peddlers 5 (9-4-1) / 3 - Helluva comeback with the aid of a good friend in the Twitter division to seal the Sunday win.
3. Cole Miners (9-5) / 5 - On Sunday, he bitches about his aces getting knocked around. Note: his aces' Sunday performance was 2 W, 1 L, 2 CGs, 1 earned run combined in 25 IP. Umm?
4. Billy Ball (8-5-1) / 4 - Jack took advantage of his bye week last week against Ricky and gets even stronger with Wright due back soon
5. MismatchMyAss (7-7) / 8 - Adam 1, Commissioner 0. Commish's spite low rankings backfire as Adam is on an impressive four-week power surge.
6. DUIs & MRIs (7-7) / 6 - Shea probably the favorite to win the Twitter division with the most overall balanced team, but hey this isn't saying much.
7. Minnesota Twins (8-6) / 1 - Team's best player goes on the shelf for a month, team responds with worst week of the season. Ozzie [McGann] asked for a quote. Response? "We stink."
8. Turd n the punchbowl (8-6) / 7 - This turd is well on his way to being flushed down the toilet bowl; the fall from grace continues
9. Charlene Murphy? (6-8) / 10 - High five for preventing the Twitter division from running a naked lap. Your reward? The defending champ next week. Godspeed.
10. Draft wasn't Wed (5-8-1) / 9 - Four months into the season, and this manager is still protesting the draft date. Only thing certain for next year is that the draft WILL be on a Wednesday.
11. All I Do Is Lose (4-10) / 11 - If civilized cultures had adopted a 6-day week instead of 7-day week, Andy might be in 1st place in the league. Alas, his future hinges on a pair of reconstructed elbows.
12. Fireballs (1-11-2) / 12 - Please send a check to Hoboken, N.J., marked "Loser's Fee" on the 'For' line of the check. Thanks.

Haha 845 AM and no vacation but had to check the powe rankings great job chris
ReplyDeleteOn vacation *
ReplyDeleteNice work Chris, I must comment though that it was made before their performances and was directed at Pineda and Marcum, who blew up on Saturday (I think had like a 14 ERA combined and high WHIP) and almost cost me the week. My real aces were amazing and I'm glad I lit the fire under them to perform!
ReplyDeleteNice job Chris. Question - is the Twitter Division accepting applications for transfer?
ReplyDeleteIs the Commish gonna do Midseason Awards, or mail that in too? haha
ReplyDeleteHe's gonna mail it in, too.
ReplyDeleteMaybe when the league members start giving better quotes, responding to my interview requests, and start commenting on articles, the Commish won't mail it in.
ReplyDeleteSorry that should have been signed by Cranky Commish, not Andrew!
ReplyDeleteThe bulk of the members that read this blog give you quotes when asked I would think.
ReplyDeleteMike Yiannakou
ReplyDeleteGood job Chris. Adam on the rise.
Atleast give me a shoutout Andy, I respond to everything.
OK too many Anons here. I think Joe, Jack and Mike have all posted as Anon if I have that down correct.
ReplyDeleteMike - yes, those commenting in this article are great. You especially. Unquestionably. But, your quotes have stunk this season.
Bob - Yes, the bulk give me quotes although the bulk also have become so scared of saying something that is bulletin-board material that the quotes stink.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I need to re-evaluate my questioning.
Mike Yiannakou
ReplyDeleteCranky Commish sounds right to whoever said it.
Pretty sure the drunk and disorderly guaranteed victory...what more do you want!?
ReplyDeleteCommish has gotten flat out lazy...can't even make predictions anymore...has to put it in trash talking on a Wednesday.
Something tells me a 4-10 record is to blame...
Yes, I post as Anonymous because I think that is the only way I can post a comment. I try to always sign my name though to anything I post. Today I forgot to sign my name to the comment I posted above about asking (tongue in cheek of course) if the Twitter division is accepting transfer applications. I posted that from the beach and forgot to sign - the screen is small on my Blackberry and at 50 I don't quite see as well as I used to - soon you guys will have to wake me up during the drafts.
ReplyDeleteI try to comment when I think appropriate and to my knowledge the only time I ever declined to give a quote when asked was earlier this season when in the middle of my match with the then undefeated reigning World Champions - a shot was fired and I was asked if I felt it was fired my way. I had absolutely no comment at that point as I was solely focused on the match at hand with the then undefeated reigning World Champions and didn't have time to deal with the shots fired (whether they were fired at me or not).
The Commish does a great job with this league and blog, there are great comments and good natured jabbing at each other. The Guest Rankings today were especially enlightening and entertaning.
You guys are a great group to be around - very enjoyable league - even though my team is completely psychotic, I never know what to expect from them from week to week.
- JACK
You try coming up with articles 5 days a week over a 26-week season.
ReplyDeleteCommish would be glad to hand the reins over to you guys for some guest posts, which I've even suggested in the past.
I rarely write about myself anyway so 4-10 record has nothing to do with it. 9-5 job does.
Jack, I figured that was your Anon based on the comment! I've become accustomed to each person's way of commenting (Joe with illiteracy, Jack with proper/capitalized English, etc.)
ReplyDeleteShea - to add on to my last comment, yes, you usually give me a good quote. As does Jack; Bob and Mike have been especially bad this year - yeah bitches, calling you out. Joe is my only true "go-to" for a good quote when I need it. Ricky takes 4 days to respond so I don't even bother anymore.
But Shea, you're not free from my wrath. Last week, I asked you for a quote about leading the way with All-Stars. Eight hours later, I got nuttin' and wanted to publish the post quote-free so there was new content up for when you guys woke up. Fucker.
You have barely asked me anything, start asking me legit questions and I'll give you a legit quote. I don't count Joe's "calling" me out as a real question bc it was a non-story. Start stirring up the pot more!
ReplyDeleteJust an idea...how about Midseason Awards and Least Valuable Managing Decisions, you can even spread it out over a few articles. I'm sure that will stir something up and keep the interest going.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't like the last two years where I've been sitting at home bored during the day. Least valuable managing decisions? Do you understand how much time of mine that would require? Other than bad draft decisions and bad cuts, I'd have to go week by week, matchup by matchup to try and find some good ones.
ReplyDeleteMidseason Awards I will try to find some time to grind out. This is not easy stuff we're talking here. It takes a while (I have done Honorable Mention with up to three names per category in the past). If I do it without research and thought, I'll get ripped by you guys and lose my credibility.
And hey, if everyone has thick skin, that is fine. I'm more than happy to stir the pot.
ReplyDeleteMeant to say:
ReplyDeleteAnd hey, if everyone has thick skin and can take some ribbing/unharmful shots, that is fine. I'm more than happy to stir the pot.

ReplyDeleteI cant sign in. I dont know why.
But jesus 23 posts? This is fun.
I think I have been asked 3 questions this year, what were so bad about my quotes?
I got praise for having fun in smack talk. But now I get no love. Should I start making fun of people's teams?
I don't really know anyone here besides Kent, Andy, Cole and only recently Chris (yeah you count, we are tight). Not trying to come across as a total dick bag, so shit isn't weird if we all happen to meet up at a future AC trip (anyone down?).
Mike Yiannakou
ReplyDeleteI voted other. Reason, I ALWAYS give good quotes.
Almost voted 3rd option, but the lazy part is what led me to vote other. Usually the first thought that comes to your head is the best answer. Atleast thats how I roll.
Take nominations then, we can make ur job easier, just ask lol
