Yu Darvish came oh-so-close to giving Rick the first no-hitter of the season last night; instead, the Fireballs don't even get a CG out of it!
Pitch counts? Johan Santana scoffs at those.
Well, the Darvish near no-no got us thinking.
The odds of a no-hitter coming against Houston this season have to be good, right? Sure, they're somewhat random and often come against solid lineups (Tampa Bay seems to get no-hit every season), but if you had to pick one team, wouldn't it be the Astros?
So that brings us to our question: Who will be the first fantasy pitcher to no-hit the Astros? Do we go with someone in the AL West, such as Jered Weaver? Hey, how about Brett Anderson or Felix Hernandez? The A's and Mariners each play the Astros six times in April!
Those would all be strong choices, but I am going with another AL pitcher: Justin Verlander. The Astros play the Tigers seven times in a two-week stretch, and there's a good chance Verlander could face Houston twice in that span.
My prediction: Justin Verlander becomes the first fantasy pitcher to no-hit the Astros this season, on Sunday, May 5 at Houston.

I am going to go with Darvish finishing what he started during the early July series between the two teams.
ReplyDeleteDavid Price, during their series in early July. Thurday, July 4th, to be exact. Undercutting Joe by a a few days.
