Week 6 Power Rankings

Here are this week's KLS5 Power Rankings. As always, this is a subjective process, and there isn't any specific formula used to determine the rankings.

All complaints should be sent to the Commissioner's office of the league. Team record in parenthesis, and previous week's ranking follows the slash.

1. Bernie Madoff (4-1-1) / 2 - There's a first for everything: Mike makes debut atop rankings.

2. Cole Miners (5-1) / 1 - Bob to league: Rainouts screwed me! League to Bob (with a wry smile): It's part of the game!!

3. Smutt Peddlers 5 (4-1-1) / 3 - Joe undoubtedly will complain about not being ranked higher and then use motivation to kick commish's ass this week.

4. Billy Ball (3-2-1) / 6 - Did Joe ignite the fire in division rival Jack? Big mistake, if so.

5. Turd n the punchbowl (4-2) / 4 - Commish ready to field dozens of complaint e-mails after Ken drops a spot in a week he won.

6. DUIs & MRIs (3-3) / 5 - Shea lost, but safe to say his interest in fantasy baseball is back. Never seen him so into a matchup as he was this weekend.

7. Minnesota Twins (3-3) / 8 - Chris the only one of the three trade partners to win last week.

8. Phightin Sillies (2-4) / 9 - These are your grandfather's Phightin Sillies.

9. The Underperformers (2-4) / 10 - Youkilis' heroics on Sunday night not quite enough.

10. Draft wasn't Wed (2-4) / 11 - Name change request, please? Suggestion: "2011 season wasn't winning"

11. We Going Money (1-4-1) / 7 - Headshakes, handsnaps and facepalms all around, my friend.

12. Charlene Murphy? (1-5) / 12 - Hal and Rick both benched CGs this week. Only Hal got away with it.

  1. Given how my team has performed with two of my keepers on the DL for a good deal of the season, I don't think one loss should knock me off the top spot when said team is still in first but thats just my opinion. Guess I gotta prove myself again (Haters gonna hate).

  2. Happy to take this one on, as I figured I'd get it. I agree that there was a case for all three to be ranked #1. This was a very tough one (hence the poll) with a lot of different rankings.

But Mike is unbeaten in his last four with the three wins all blowouts. And you just squeaked by Hal and lost to Jack. That, ultimately, was the deciding factor.

It's been pretty common in the power rankings history for a #1 ranked team to lose that spot when he loses if the difference between top two teams is only one game in the standings.

Had you gone undefeated a little longer, yes, you likely would have stayed in that spot despite the loss.

(Continue to think the haters are hating, though.)

  3. Not gonna lie, I didnt expect to be in the top spot, but no complaints here.

My team has been hot lately and I have great balance with my pitching and hitting, so I can see where Andy is coming from. Lets just hope I don't blow it now in rivalry week.
