All's quiet on the trade front

Unlike last week where there was a lot of trade chatter, all's quiet this week.

Many people thought there'd be at least one trade this week, but that simply doesn't look like the case.

Andy has been openly shopping Jarrod Washburn trying to acquire hitting, but obviously nothing has come of that.

Sources tell me Andy and Chris were close to swapping players but ultimately the deal fell through. Other than that, I have not heard any rumblings as to players that could be dealt.

More after the jump.

"There's just not enough managers willing to sit down and negotiate," said one GM who wished to remain anonymous. "They're too afraid to shake things up at this point."

Which bares asking why?

Teams clearly out of the playoff hunt should be doing everything in their power to improve for the future.

Teams on the cusp of the playoff hunt should be doing everything in their power to improve for the stretch run.

"I'm surprised more offers haven't at least been discussed," the GM said.

The trade deadline is Sunday, so we'll continue to wait and see. As for now, though, all's quiet.
