Trade deadline winners and losers

The trade deadline has come and gone - both in MLB and fantasy.

Our league produced a couple trades, but the bigger impact was the way some names moved around in the big-leagues.

Some big names were traded, and plenty of smaller names who still are owned by managers in our league.

Who benefited the most from the trade deadline? Hal. Who got hit the hardest? Bob. Read on to find out why.

Ryan Ludwick traded from St. Louis to San Diego
Loser:
Bob. Ludwick goes from having Pujols and Holliday as protection to a terrible hitters' park batting behind Adrian Gonzalez.

Edwin Jackson traded from Arizona to Chicago White Sox
Winner:
Hal. A big winner. Jackson thrived in the AL Central last year, and he was terrible for Arizona this year. Why Hal even kept him this long is a mystery, but it managed to pay off.

Jorge Cantu traded from Florida to Texas
Loser:
Joe. He was forced to cut Cantu, because he is no longer playing every day.

Roy Oswalt traded from Houston to Philadelphia
Winner:
Hal. Quite a haul for Hal, as Oswalt goes from the lowly Astros to the pennant-winning Phillies. Not much more to say here. Huge get.

Jhonny Peralta traded from Cleveland to Detroit
Winner:
Mike. I guess we'll declare him a winner, even though I really don't think Peralta's status vastly changes one way or another.

Lance Berkman traded from Houston to N.Y. Yankees
Winner:
Hal. Loser: Joe. Silly of Joe not to hang onto Berkman a couple more days with his name being rumored to be traded. Hal wins yet again, the third big name of his to be dealt to a contender.

Dan Haren traded from Arizona to L.A. Angels
Winner:
Joe. A change of scenery will help Haren. Anything to give Joe's team a jolt at this point.

Octavio Dotel traded from Pittsburgh to L.A. Dodgers
Loser:
Ken. Loser: Dave. Ken loses a closer as Dotel goes from getting saves to holds, and Dave has Hong-Chih Kuo, who will see less time in hold situations now.

Matt Capps traded from Washington to Minnesota
Winner:
Hal. Loser: Bob. Well I think we know who were the two big winners and losers of the deadline. Bob loses a closer in Jon Rauch, while Hal gets Capps onto a pennant-contending team.

Scott Podsednik traded from Kansas City to L.A. Dodgers
Winner:
Chris, maybe. We think Chris is a winner. At least as long as Manny Ramirez remains out. After that, though, where does Podsednik see time in that outfield?

Ted Lilly traded from Chicago to L.A. Dodgers
Winner:
Chris. He unloads one of his two Cubs pitchers who barely get wins, to a better ballpark.

Cliff Lee traded from Seattle to Texas
Winner:
Ken. Although no matter where Lee pitches, he's still a dominant force.
