Topic 4 regards a new proposed weekly skin system

Should we institute a new weekly "skin" system, and subsequently increase buy-in to $100?
REASON:
It adds more money to the total pot and more ways to win money; it gives a bit more value to the points aspect of a match; it adds possible strategic value of "go for the skin and risk a win" versus "sit back and take the likely win"; it gives non-playoff teams a chance to win money and gives every matchup an added reason to pay attention.
PROPOSED SYSTEM:
We'll break this down in two parts.
Part 1: Each week, the manager who scores the biggest margin of victory wins a weekly side pool, otherwise known as a "skin". I was unsure whether to go with biggest margin or most categories won. If you feel strongly about either one, please make your case. Would love to hear thoughts on that. This leads to...
Part 2: The weekly skin can only be done if we all put in an extra $25 per person. Proposed payouts with this would be: 440/240/100 for top 3, 100 each for division winners, 10 for weekly skin.
Change needed: 75% of votes

This is a great idea and I am definitely in favor of it (plus paying more). Seems like most were on board last year and hopefully that still remains the case. This adds a new element to the matchups. I would vote on having the skin be determined by greatest margin of victory. That will really make managers debate between going for a safe win or going for a skin.

ReplyDeleteAnd if this gets voted down cause people don't like the "skin" part of it, this league should be atleast $100 buy in. This is a big league with plenty of keepers, rules and attention and knowledge needed to make a run for the championship...its time to start sweetening the pot.
I agree with the fee increase and like the skin idea. Although, I think it should go to most categories won because a manager can't control how bad his opponent is that week but can control their own numbers based on managerial decisions. Also, even with skins, if a team is that bad, they can still tank and it could affect the margin of victory.

ReplyDeleteI like it and if you guys pass number 5 we get a few more dollars for the expanded payouts. Also the weekly skins could help keep people competitive all season (which in 5 and 6 I feel we absolutely need to do as it's in my view the biggest flaw we have).

Sorry I've been on vacation and didn't have internet access. I'm in favor of that added skins system. If it's a yes will we also vote on whether it's most points or greatest differential?
